The mission of the Ministry of Care is to provide coordinated assistance to persons who are Homebound or living in Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities.  We provide transportation to Church when possible for those who no longer can drive but are able to participate in Church services.  It is our aim to improve their quality of life, with special emphasis on meeting their spiritual needs, especially through the Eucharist.  An opportunity for Stewardship.
Instructions and/or training is given for all Pastoral Care Ministries.Contact Father Wayne at 961-1061, ext. 302 to volunteer your help.
Finding Support after the Death of a Loved One:
We experience a wide range of emotions when we suffer the loss of a loved one.  We have highs and lows, feelings of loss and abandonment, anger at anyone and anything (maybe even at God), numbness, hopelessness, loss of concentration, a general feeling of confusion.  We wonder, is it ever going to stop?
For these reasons and more, St. Mary has established a bereavement ministry program.  Part of this ministry is a Bereavement Support Group.
The Bereavement Support Group for those who are grieving the death of a loved one will begin January 29, 2008 in the Parish Conference Room. The program consists of 8 weekly sessions that help you to know what to expect and not to expect during the grieving process. It gives you an opportunity to share with other grieving people who can understand and support you. For more information, contact Father Wayne at 961-1061.
Centering Prayer group meets on Monday evenings at 7:00 pm in the Grotto Room.  All are welcome.  "For God Alone my soul waits in silence" (Psalm 62). Discussion and video follows the period of prayer.

n Visits to the Homebound:  If any family has someone who is homebound and cannot get to Church, we would be very happy to bring them Communion. Please call Father Wayne if you have someone who wishes to be put on our list.
n When bringing communion to your facilities on Sunday, Please pick up the consecrated hosts from the tray after Mass.
n Safe Environment Program: All ministers of care who work with vulnerable adults must have on record that they have attended such training.

GO IN PEACE TO LOVE AND SERVE THE LORD!  Are you a good listener, do you want a very rewarding ministry?  Consider this ministry of bringing the Eucharist to those who can no longer come to Church.  Are you called to serve in the healing ministry of Jesus?  Come and be a Minister of Care.  Volunteers are needed at Nursing Homes, ALF's  and homebound.  Come join our team.  . It is a once a month Sunday commitment to bring Communion to the sick and elderly.  Having two ministers going to each facility each Sunday eases the load and assures that one will always be there.Ministers are needed for 2nd Sunday at Delta Health Care, also Weekday Ministers for one section at Delta and 2nd Sunday at Lakeshore Health Care Center. We also need a minister to go to a home bound couple once a week-day. Please spread the word that openings are available.  Positions can be done by a family, a couple, or one person.  Help us to "Build the Kingdom of God here on earth" by reaching out to the sick and those in care facilities in our parish.  Training is provided and a team is in place to support you. ***Notice: a Ministry of Care VOLUNTEER FORM can be found here.
